Holly Daze Lyrics
Haunted House
Written by Gerry Tenny
Performed by Mary Miche

As I walked in to the Haunted House
Trying to be quiet as a mouse
Then I started to climb the stairs
The room was cold, the walls were bare
And who do you think was standing there?
Standing there with a whole lot of hair

It was King Kong the gorilla
Playing Ping Pong with Godzilla
It was King Kong the gorilla
Playing Ping Pong with Godzilla

Can you imagine my surprise
I could hardly believe my eyes
'Cause they were having such a good time
That I wished I had brought my own
Monsters disguise

So I could play
Ping Pong with King Kong the gorilla and Godzilla
So I could play
Ping Pong with King Kong the gorilla and Godzilla

Well all I could do was sit and stare
But I did not want them to see me there
So I hid behind a chair
Till I felt a hand on my hair
All of a sudden I started to scream
Then I woke up, it was only a dream

I dreamt that King Kong the gorilla
Was playing ping pong with Godzilla
I dreamt that King Kong the gorilla
Was playing ping pong with Godzilla
Pumpkin Man
Written by John McCutcheon
Performed by Mary Miche

There's something in my garden
So big and orange and round
It started just a little seed
When I stuck it in the ground
Now it doesn't look at all
Like what it did last spring
Hey won't somebody tell me
What he heck you call this thing

Oh the pumpkin with the big round head
Smile so bright and eyes so red
I wish jack-o-lanterns hung from the sky
And the seas were made of pumpkin pie

My daddy and my mommy and my dog
And my pal John
Walked out to the garden to see what was 'a goin' on
My daddy said "it's squash," my momma called it spice
John just laughed
And my dog just barked and jumped up once or twice

Oh the pumpkin with the big round head
Smile so bright and eyes so red
I wish jack-o-lanterns hung from the sky
And the seas were made of pumpkin pie

Then John said, "Haven't you ever seen a pumpkin
Plant before?"
Why, you carve 'em up for Halloween and stick 'em
Right by your door
With two big eyes and a funny nose
And a toothy smile below
And stick a handle in its head for to make the whole thing glow

Oh the pumpkin with the big round head
Smile so bright and eyes so red
I wish jack-o-lanterns hung from the sky
And the seas were made of pumpkin pie

So now I grow pumpkins for my neighbors all around
Still I don't quite understand how they get so big and round
My daddy says, "It's nature,"
My momma says a miracle,
But John just laughs and my dog just barks
And I like that best of all

Oh the pumpkin with the big round head
Smile so bright and eyes so red
I wish jack-o-lanterns hung from the sky
And the seas were made of pumpkin pie

Oh the pumpkin with the big round head
Smile so bright and eyes so red
I wish jack-o-lanterns hung from the sky
And the seas were made of pumpkin pie
Boogie-Woogie Ghost
Written by Nadine M. Peglar
Performed by Mary Miche

There was a ghost on Halloween,
He really made the spooky scene,
He was the Boogie Woogie Ghost,
He was the ghosty with the most,
And when the kiddies came around
He'd give out with a ghostly sound,
He'd go "Boo-oo-oo-oo-ooo."
Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo

Though he really wasn't very spooky
Kids all thought that he was rather cool
Even though he was a little kooky
He was just a special ghoul
So when you're out on Halloween
And he appears upon the scene
Don't give a scream and run away
Just ask him if he'll stay and play
You'll like the Boogie Woogie Ghost
He'll be the one you dig the most,
You'll love his
Boo-oo-oo-oo-ooo,
Boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo

He'd go out spooking late at night
And giving every one a fright
He knew some witches, two or three
And they would all go on a spree
And when the morning same around
He'd give one last mysterious sound,
He'd go "Boo-oo-oo-oo-ooo."
Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo, Boo

Though he really wasn't very spooky
Kids all thought that he was rather cool
Even though he was a little kooky
He was just a special ghoul
So when you're out on Halloween
And he appears upon the scene
Don't give a scream and run away
Just ask him if he'll stay and play
You'll like the Boogie Woogie Ghost
He'll be the one you dig the most,
You'll love his
Boo-oo-oo-oo-ooo,
Boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo

Hey aren't ya scared?
Oh forget it.
Grandma's Feather Bed
Written by  Jim Connor
Performed by Mary Miche

When I was a little bitty kid
Just up off the floor
We used to go to Grandma's house
Every year end or so
We'd have fried chicken, country ham,
Home-made butter on our bread
But the best darn thing about Grandma's house
Was her great big feathered bed

It was nine feet high and six feet wide
Soft as a downy chick (bok, bok)
Made from the feathers of forty-seven geese
Took a whole bolt of cloth for the tick
It would hold eight kids and four young dogs
And a piggy we stole from the shed
Didn't get much sleep but we had a lot of fun
On Grandma's feather bed

After supper we'd sit around the fire
The old folks sit and chew
Pa would talk about the farm and the war
Granny'd sing a ballad or two
I'd love to sit and watch the fire
'Till the cobwebs filled my head
And the next thing ya' know
I'd wake up in the morning
In the middle of the feather bed

It was nine feet high and six feet wide
Soft as a downy chick (bok, bok)
Made from the feathers of forty-seven geese
Took a whole bolt of cloth for the tick
It would hold eight kids and four young dogs
And a piggy we stole from the shed
Didn't get much sleep but we had a lot of fun
On Grandma's feather bed

I love my Ma, I love my Pa
I love Granny and Grandpa too
I went fishing' with my uncle
Wrestled with my cousin
I even kissed Aunt Lou -- ooh
But if I ever had to make a choice
I guess it oughta be said
I'd trade 'em all plus the gal down the road
For grandma's feather bed

It was nine feet high and six feet wide
Soft as a downy chick (bok, bok)
Made from the feathers of forty-seven geese
Took a whole bolt of cloth for the tick
It would hold eight kids and four young dogs
And a piggy we stole from the shed
Didn't get much sleep but we had a lot of fun
On Grandma's feather bed

Didn't get much sleep but we had a lot of fun
On Grandma's feather bed

My Favorite Things
Written by Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II
Performed by Mary Miche

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with string
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites, when the bee stings,
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudel
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are few of my favorite things

When the dog bites, when the bee stings,
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver-white winter that melt into spring
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites, when the bee stings,
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad
Snowflakes in my Ear
Written & Performed by Mary Miche

I was sittin’ in the house
On a cold and wintry day
I was bored as could be
‘Cause my friends were all away
There was nothin good on TV
All the channels I had tried
I said, “Hey Mom, there’s nothing’ to do”
Do she threw me outside

Now I’ve got snowflakes in my eyes
And snowflakes in my nose
Snowflakes on my knees
And snowflakes on my toes
Snowflakes in my mouth
And snowflakes on my skin
Snowflakes down my back
And snowflakes on my chin

Well I put on tons of clothes
Then I headed for the shed
I thought I’d have a good old time
Ridin’ on my shed
But a runner was bent
And a nail gouged a k ee
I started goin’ crooked
And slid into a tree

Now I’ve got snowflakes in my eyes
And snowflakes in my nose
Snowflakes on my knees
And snowflakes on my toes
Snowflakes in my mouth
And snowflakes on my skin
Snowflakes down my back
And snowflakes on my chin

Well I figured that sledding
Was not the sport for me
I got my skates and went down
To the pond ‘cause there it’s free
It was fun for a while
But I missed my old friend Hank
So I pretended we were racing
And crashed into the bank

Now I’ve got snowflakes in my eyes
And snowflakes in my nose
Snowflakes on my knees
And snowflakes on my toes
Snowflakes in my mouth
And snowflakes on my skin
Snowflakes down my back
And snowflakes on my chin

I thought I’d give the great outdoors
One more try
I figured it’d be pretty safe
To throw a snowball hit a tree
Which landed on a police car
Who then came after me

Now I’ve got snowflakes in my eyes
And snowflakes in my nose
Snowflakes on my knees
And snowflakes on my toes
Snowflakes in my mouth
And snowflakes on my skin
Snowflakes down my back
And snowflakes on my chin

I came inside discouraged
Winter spots are not for me
I was frozen like a popsicle
My mom made me hot tea
She said, “Some days are like this,
Tomorrow’ll be be better, dear”
But I couldn’t even hear her
I had snowflakes in my ear.

Now I’ve got snowflakes in my eyes
And snowflakes in my nose
Snowflakes on my knees
And snowflakes on my toes
Snowflakes in my mouth
And snowflakes on my skin
Snowflakes down my back
And snowflakes on my chin

Thanksgiving Song
Written by Hap Palmer

There are many things
I am thankful
They’re around me near and far
There are many things
I am thankful for
Let me tell you what they are

I am thankful for …(chocolate)
I am thankful for (my dog)
I am thankful for …(my new school bag)
And I’m thankful to be me.

(Instructional interlude)

There are many things
I am thankful
They’re around me near and far
There are many things
I am thankful for
Let me tell you what they are

I am thankful for …
I am thankful for...
I am thankful for …
And I’m thankful to be me.

There are many things
I am thankful
They’re around me near and far
There are many things
I am thankful for
Let me tell you what they are

I am thankful for …
I am thankful for ...
I am thankful for …
And I’m thankful to be me.

There are many things
I am thankful
They’re around me near and far
There are many things
I am thankful for
Let me tell you what they are

I am thankful for …
I am thankful for ...
I am thankful for …
And I’m thankful to be me.
Your Mother’s coming’ to school!Your Mother's Coming to School
Written by John Frederick Coots, Haven Gillespie, & Mary Miche
Performed by Mary Miche

You Better watch out, you better not cry
You better not pout, I’m telling you why
Your Mother’s coming to school

She’s making a list, checkin’ it twice
Gonna find out if you’ve been naughty or nice
Your Mother’s coming’ to school

She knows if you’ve been bad or good
‘Cause she talked to Mrs. Blake
So you better watch out, you better not cry
You better not pout, I’m telling you why
Your Mother’s coming’ to school!

Christmas Mouse
Written by Linda Arnold
Performed by Mary Miche

Downstairs by the Christmas tree
There’s a Gingerbread House
Look who’s found his way inside
It’s a Christmas mouse

It’s a Christmas mouse, in a Christmas house
Chewin’ on a candy cane
It’s a Christmas mouse, in a Christmas house
Nibbling the window pane

Well if you listen like an elf
You will hear him singing to himself

I’m a little mouse who likes to eat
Lots of things that are very sweet
I like gumdrops, candy canes too
Even licorice will do

It’s a Christmas mouse, in a Christmas house
Chewin’ on a candy cane
It’s a Christmas mouse, in a Christmas house
Nibbling the window pane

Well that mouse he ate and ate
For he was having such fun
And suddenly he found out
He’d eaten every crumb

Well if you listen like an elf
You will hear him crying’ to himself

I’m a little mouse and I feel bad
Oh my tummy feels so sad
I guess should have tried to stop
Before I ate that last gum drop

It’s a Christmas mouse, in a Christmas house
Chewin’ on a candy cane
It’s a Christmas mouse, in a Christmas house
Nibbling the window pane

Now there’s not much house
Just a fat little mouse with a tummy full of pain
Marvelous Toy
Written by Tom Paxton
Performed by Mary Miche

When I was just a wee Little kid
Full of health and joy,
My father homeward came one night
And gave to me a toy
A wonder to behold it was
With many color bright
And the moment I laid eyes on it
It became my heart’s delight

It went zip when it moved and pop when it stopped,
And whirr when it stood still
I never knew just what it was
And I guess I never will

The first time that I picked it up I had a big surprise
Cause right on the bottom were two big buttons
That looked like big green eyes.
I first pushed one and then the other
Then I twisted its lid
And when I set it down again
Here is what it did

It went zip when it moved and pop when it stopped,
And whirr when it stood still
I never knew just what it was
And I guess I never will

It first marched left and then marched right
Then marched under a chair
And when I looked where it had gone
It wasn’t even there.
I started to cry
But my daddy laughed ‘cause he knew that I would find
When I turned around my marvelous toy
Would be changed from behind

It went zip when it moved and pop when it stopped,
And whirr when it stood still
I never knew just what it was
And I guess I never will

The years have gone by too quickly it seems
I have my own little boy
And yesterday I gave to him my marvelous little toy
His eyes nearly popped right out of his head
And he gave a squeal of glee
Neither one knows just what it is
But he loves it just like me.

It still goes zip when it moved and pop when it stopped,
And whirr when it stood still
I never knew just what it was
And I guess I never will

It goes zip when it moved and pop when it stopped,
And whirr when it stood still
I never knew just what it was
And I guess I never will

Jingle bell, Jingle bell, Jingle bell rock
Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowing’ and blowing’ and bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells chime in jingle time
Dancing’ and prancing’ in jingle bell square
In the frosty air
What a bright time
It’s the right time
To rock and roll the night away

Jingle bell time is a swell time
To go riding in a one-horse sleigh
Giddy-up jingle horse pick up your feet
Jingle around the clock
Mix and mingle in a jingling’ beat
That’s the jingle bell
That’s the jingle bell
That’s the jingle bell rock

Jingle bell, Jingle bell, Jingle bell rock

Toy Made Out of Wood
Written by Tom Hunter
Performed by Mary Miche

With most toys, who knows where they’re from
But I happen to know who made this one
She felt pretty good when she got it done
This toy made out of wood

It’s a toy made out of wood for you
A little paint and dab of glue
I figured it’d be pretty good for you
To have a toy made out of wood

I know it doesn’t come in living plastic
With moveable parts and unbreakable elastic
Guess I’ve done something pretty drastic
To make a toy made out of wood

It’s a toy made out of wood for you
A little paint and dab of glue
I figured it’d be pretty good for you
To have a toy made out of wood

Now don’t try to use it as a tool
It won’t make you extra smart in school
I’m not your friends are gonna think you’re cool
With a toy made out of wood

It’s a toy made out of wood for you
A little paint and dab of glue
I figured it’d be pretty good for you
To have a toy made out of wood

So here’s to the trees and to Mother Earth
And to the hands that gave this toy its birth
It’s a lot more important than what it’s worth
This toy made out of wood

It’s a toy made out of wood for you
A little paint and dab of glue
I figured it’d be pretty good for you
To have a toy made out of wood

It’s a toy made out of wood for you
A little paint and dab of glue
I figured it’d be pretty good for you
To have a toy made out of wood
Christmas Dinner
Written by Noel Paul Stookey
Performed by Mary Miche

And it came to pass on a Christmas evening
While all the doors were shuttered tight
Outside standing, a lonely boy child
Cold and shivering in the night

On the street, every window, save but one,
Was gleaming bright
And to this window, walked the boy child
Peeking in, saw candlelight

Through other windows he had looked at turkey
And ducks and geese and cherry pies
But through this window, saw a grey-haired lad
Table bare and tears in her eyes

Into his coat reached the boy child
Knowing well there was little there

He took from his pocket
His own Christmas dinner, a bit of cheese
And some bread to share

His outstretched hand held the food And they
Trembled, as the door it opened wide
Said he “Would you share with me Christmas dinner”
Gently said she, “Come inside”

The grey-haired lady brought to the table
Two glasses, the last drop of wine
Said she, “Here’s a toast to everyone’s Christmas
And especially yours and mine”

And it came to pass on a Christmas evening
While all the doors were shuttered tight
That in that town
The happiest Christmas was shared by candlelight

The Dream of Martin Luther King
Written by Merle Gartrell

Once there was a gentle man
Who talked about a promised land
He reached out and took the troubles
Of the people in his strong black hands
He had a dream that everybody
Ought to hear the bells of freedom ring
Now the people shout and sing about
The dream of Dream of Martin Luther King
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King

Oh the dream, the dream of Martin Luther King
Oh the dream, the dream of Martin Luther King
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King

He was a man who loved peace
And he found a faith and belief
He preached that violence was wrong
And he knew the way would be long
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King

Oh the dream, the dream of Martin Luther King
Oh the dream, the dream of Martin Luther King
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King

In his dream he saw the people
Of this land walking side by side
White one, black one, red ones, yellow ones
Lovin’ one another with pride
Now he’s gone away for the day
His dream became a real thing
But he’ll heat the angels sing
About the dream of Martin Luther King
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King

Oh the dream, the dream of Martin Luther King
Oh the dream, the dream of Martin Luther King
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King

He talked about a new day
But he walked a dangerous way
He knew the life of the slum
But he sang, “We shall overcome”
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King

Oh the dream, the dream of Martin Luther King
Oh the dream, the dream of Martin Luther King
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King
Sing about the dream of Martin Luther King
A Tribute to Martin Luther Jr.
Written by Mary Miche
Performed by Mary Miche

Martin Luther King
You make my spirit sing
You mean so much to me
‘Cause you taught us how to be free

You loved everybody black or white
And you taught us it’s no good to fight
But just to stand up for what’s right
And let your love shine like a light

Martin Luther King
You make my spirit sing
You mean so much to me
‘Cause you taught us how to be free

You bravely walked the streets of this land
You marched with others hand in hand
You told us that we all should stand
Together for equality in this land

Martin Luther King
You make my spirit sing
You mean so much to me
‘Cause you taught us how to be free

You spoke of justice loud and long
With patience and love you fought against wrong
As brothers and sister we’ll be strong
And so to you we give this song

Martin Luther King
You make my spirit sing
You mean so much to me
‘Cause you taught us how to be free
